Some of those who have taken classes have expressed interest in having a more protracted “lab time”—an opportunity to spend more extended time reading texts together. In response, we’re launching a new learning initiative we’re calling an Exploration.
We’ll be setting aside a regular time each week for the rest of the year to meet to journey through a particular book of the Bible. Each week we will simply pick up where we left off the previous week; we’ll journey together, going at the pace set by those in the group, exploring as much as we can during the summer months.
An Exploration is a fresh approach to Bible study. We’ll be focusing on reading the text itself and discussing it together. We won’t be trying to “get through the material” but to get the text into our minds and hearts. We’ll be learning together as we spend time in a reading “lab.”
With the new year, we will be walking through Luke’s Gospel, passage by passage. We’ll practice reading Gospel narratives well, how to understand parables, seeking to grasp what Luke (under the Spirit’s inspiration) wants us to know about Jesus.
This course will meet on Tuesday mornings at Sunfllower Eatery through the end of the year. The class will meet from 9 until 10:30 am each week.
Although you might not be free every scheduled meeting time during the summer, that shouldn’t keep you from participating. If you’d like to join us, please text Brian at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list–you’ll get the weekly “nudges” about where we will be in Luke.
